Reservation Procedures:
Group reservations must be made at least
three weeks in advance. Written confirmation will be sent by
mail or fax. Please review the confirmation information, sign,
and return one copy to the Reservation Office with a deposit
equal to 1/3 of your total visit. This must be done at least
two weeks before your scheduled visit to the Museum.
Chaperones:
Chaperones are required for Museum visits in the
ratio of 10:1 for K-8 groups, and admission is free. Additional
chaperones will be charged the group adult rate of $7.00/person.
Chaperones for pre-school groups are required in the ratio of
5:1, and as children of that age are free for general admission,
all chaperones for this age-group will be charged the group rate
of $7.00/person.
Payment Procedures:
Program fees can be paid by check or major
credit card either in advance or upon arrival at the Museum.
Invoices will be issued to organizations who supply a valid purchase
order. Purchase orders referencing the date of visit, reservation
number and brief program description and expected number of participants
should be mailed or faxed directly to the Reservation Office
at (203) 374-1929 at least two weeks before the program date.
Cancellation Policy:
Groups will be charged for all students
reserved on the confirmation form at the time of your visit.
Any changes MUST be called into the Reservations Office no later
than 24 hours prior to your visit to avoid unwanted charges.
Two absences are allowed without penalty. Cancellations without
proper notice will result in loss of deposit. If you arrive late
for a program, the program may be abbreviated (to end at the
scheduled time) or cancelled without refund.
Weather Concerns:
If you must cancel your visit due to inclement
weather, please contact us as soon as possible at (203) 372-3521
x 121, and leave a message if after hours. Refunds are issued
if your school or the Museum is closed or has a delayed opening
due to bad weather.
Eating Facilities:
The Museum’s Dining Court is available
to groups by advanced booking only. To ensure that all groups
can use the Dining Court, please be prompt in taking your lunch
and encourage your students to keep the area clean for others.
The following guidelines will help your planning:

Lunch bookings are available in 30-minute blocks

Bag lunches must be placed in boxes or large bags

Vending machines are available for snacks, light lunches, and
drinks

Picnic grounds available in warm months
